RBTHub 75-question practice review: a shorter set with explanations

Same publishing portfolio; not an independent review.

free 75-question RBT practice exam

A shorter study set can organise a focused review. It cannot turn 75 practice responses into the full 85-question format or a reliable prediction of passing.

RBTHub’s 75-question practice page offers a mixed study set with explanations, not a claim that a shorter test can certify readiness. It is free to start, does not require a learner account and lets you choose whether to use a timer. Its most useful feature is what happens after finishing: you can inspect the reasoning for both the correct answer and the alternatives.

This article considers when the shorter format makes sense and how to organise its review. It is a separate education-resource feature, not roofing training, a contractor qualification or a connection between RBT certification and trade licensing. Our publisher relationship with RBTHub is disclosed above; this is not an independent product ranking.

01

Choose 75 questions for a reason, not an easier-looking number

A set with 75 questions is ten items shorter than an 85-question attempt. That difference may suit the study block you have available, but it does not establish that the questions are easier or that the session will feel easy. Reading speed, interruptions and the time you spend reviewing alternatives still matter.

One reason to choose this format is that you want another mixed practice set, separate from the longer free form you have already tried. Another is that you want to reserve more of today’s session for explanation review. Decide which applies before you begin so you do not judge the experience solely by the final percentage.

If your immediate goal is full-length pacing, select the 85-question form instead. The optional 90-minute timer on the shorter set is a study setting, not a transformation into the full format. Match the resource to the question you are asking about your preparation, rather than assuming longer is always better.

02

What the shorter set includes, and where your work stays

The page provides numbered navigation, Previous and Next controls, flags and an optional timer. You can reconsider selections before finishing. After submission, every item counts toward the practice score; a blank response counts as incorrect. Review includes correct-answer reasoning, three alternative-choice explanations and references for each question.

Progress saves in the same browser when local storage is available. Check the save-status message instead of assuming that selecting an option always completes a successful save. A different device or cleared site data will not restore an anonymous attempt from a cloud account. Private browsing also has its own storage lifetime.

Timed mode needs an additional decision: the clock continues while you are away. Returning to the page later is not the same as pausing the timer. If your available time is fragmented, untimed study may be the more suitable choice for this attempt. Record which mode you used so a future comparison has some context.

03

Keep three lists: incorrect, uncertain and unanswered

A three-column note is a useful companion to the result. The score records correctness; your note can preserve information the scoring system cannot know. Keep it outside the test if you want to revisit the distinction after a new attempt.

  • Incorrect: name the concept and the reason your selected option seemed plausible.
  • Uncertain: include guesses and answers reached by elimination that you still cannot explain.
  • Unanswered: record whether you ran out of time, missed the position or did not know how to begin.

The third list matters because blank and incorrect responses have the same effect on this practice total but may require different follow-up. A navigation oversight is not evidence of the same problem as a recurring conceptual error. Likewise, a correct guess should not disappear from your study plan simply because it earned a point. Keep the note descriptive rather than labelling yourself ready or unready.

04

Use the explanation to make a distinction in your own words

Start with a question from one of your lists and reread it before opening the reasoning. Identify what the question actually asks you to choose. Then compare the correct explanation with the rationale for the option you considered. The important difference may be a condition in the prompt, not the presence of an unfamiliar term.

Write a brief note that names that difference. Avoid copying an entire explanation or recording only an answer letter: neither tells you whether you can recognise the same distinction in another context. Keep the source pointer if you need to read the underlying material more carefully.

A useful stopping point is being able to explain why the chosen answer fits this question and why the nearest alternative does not. That is a study activity, not proof of competence in delivering services. An online preparation explanation cannot replace the training, supervision or professional judgment required in actual work.

05

Read six-domain results with the sample size in view

The shorter set includes questions across all six current content domains: data collection and graphing, behavior assessment, behavior acquisition, behavior reduction, documentation and reporting, and ethics. A domain label helps you locate relevant material; it does not mean a small group of questions measures everything in that area.

Suppose your notes show two misses in a domain represented by relatively few questions. Inspect those misses before reorganising your whole schedule. Were they about the same distinction, two unrelated details or a reading oversight? The count supplies a starting point for review, not a complete explanation of the result.

The opposite caution applies to a perfect small group: answering the items correctly does not establish mastery of the entire domain. Look for evidence across different examples and keep guesses visible. Repeatedly recognising the same wording is different from applying a concept to an unfamiliar question. Domain percentages are useful labels for follow-up, not calibrated readiness estimates.

06

Choose the next move: revisit, focus or lengthen the attempt

After review, there are several reasonable next actions. Revisit an explanation if it remains unclear. Open a related guide if the issue needs more context. Try a topic exercise if you want to work on that distinction without starting another long mixed set. You can also use recall cards for terms you struggled to retrieve.

A retake is not automatically wasted, but label what it is doing. Repeating a familiar question after studying its explanation can support review; it cannot provide the same evidence as encountering a different question for the first time. Do not treat a higher repeat percentage as an independent prediction of exam performance.

Move to the 85-question form when you want a longer pacing exercise, not because this shorter score authorises a next level. Before leaving the result, write one planned action and keep the question or concept reference. That small handoff makes the next visit easier to start.

07

Decide whether the optional paid structure is useful to you

The public set and explanations require no purchase. RBTHub separately offers a 30-Day RBT Prep Pass for $19 once, with no automatic renewal. It adds ten fixed 85-question, 90-minute mocks, a separate pool of 205 drill questions, an exam date and a daily plan with Today’s session and checklist.

Saved progress, mistake review, bookmarks, weak-domain practice and supported Skill repair lessons with delayed checks provide a more organised follow-up path. Those tools may appeal if keeping your own review log is the part you struggle to maintain. They are optional, not a hidden payment required to see the free answers.

Check the access period and current product details before buying. The 850 positions in ten mocks are an item count, not a promise of 850 unique concepts. No practice percentage is an official BACB passing score, and the service is not affiliated with the BACB. Additional structure should be judged as a tool you will use, not a guarantee.

Before you choose your next step

This 75-question page works best as one clearly defined study activity: attempt the set, keep uncertainty visible, inspect explanations and choose a next task. It is not the full 85-question format and does not need to be presented as one to be useful. If the shorter session leaves you with a clearer distinction to practise and a review note you can return to, it has provided something more actionable than another isolated score.
